This friendly, proactive group is constantly seeking new members. We are a hardworking team and individuals give as much, or as little time as they can spare.

There are lots of ways to get involved locally in Dorset.

How can you can help?

There is also more information on the main Marie Curie charity website about fundraising ideas. Go to the Marie Curie website >

Volunteer Your Time: Collections

We hold manned collections throughout the year at a number of venues, and are always looking to expand these. Collections are normally in March and November/December each year but sometimes during the summer months at events on Poole Quay.

When are the collections?
View the local Poole collections schedule on the Future Events page >

If you want to volunteer time to man the collections, please use this link to book:

(This link takes you through to the main Marie Curie website page where you can search for Collections being held at different venues on a variety of dates. You will see Collections being organised by all Dorset fundraising groups – not just this one!)

If you are an event organiser or own a venue and are happy for a collection to be held, please use our Contact Us form to get in touch. We would love to hear from you. Contact Us >

Take part in Events

There’s always something going on! View our future events >

  • Summer Village fetes and fairs – being part of the team eg. setting up the gazebo or stall with games, manning it on a rota basis, & packing up afterwards.
  • Car Boot sales – helping out with collections, eg. assisting Curly The Busker by holding a collecting tin
  • Assisting at our own social events such as Barn Dance or Coffee Mornings or baking / preparing food
  • Raising awareness of the Group by promoting social events to friends and family
  • Fundraising Your Way – thinking of events that an individual can arrange and undertake such as Blooming Great Tea Party from home. Do you have other leisure interests that you think might lend themselves to helping us raise awareness and money?

Donate to Marie Curie Shops

Donate to Marie Curie Shops.  Simply by donating your unwanted items and clothing to our local shops, you will be helping to fund Marie Curie nursing care for local people who are coping with a terminal illness.

The shops are unable to take electrical goods, but would be delighted to accept your unwanted gifts, clothing, pictures, jewellery, ornaments, etc.

Our local shops are located at 336-338 Ashley Rd, Poole BH14 9DF  and 80 Poole Rd, Westbourne, BH4 9DZ.   Please pay them a visit.  You might find a bargain there for yourself !

Help behind the scenes

Our major events take quite a bit of planning and we always welcome people who’d like to help organise things.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helps and joins us. To give you an idea of the range of things people do, we’ve included a few examples, such as the bunting kindly hand-made by Sue Zenthon, and more examples shown below.

We encourage people to get in touch if you have ideas or time to spare – we would love to hear from you.
